November 27 & 28: PIAC’s 15th Annual Parent Conference

Curated two-day virtual event, with speakers & workshops focused on bridging gaps in our schools in Mental Health, Parent Engagement, and School Councils.
Engage with others from across the TDSB ​as we learn and share best practices on reconnecting mentally and socially with ourselves, our students, schools, and communities.

Keynote Speakers

Director of Education, Colleen Russell-Rawlins
TDSB's Director of Education - Colleen Russell-Rawlins
​Recognized in 2020 as one of 100 Accomplished Black Women in Canada, Colleen Russell-Rawlins has been an educator and leader for three decades, holding senior positions with both the Peel and Toronto District School Board (TDSB) - Canada’s largest school boards. As the associate director of the TDSB she led the team that was responsible for carrying out the TDSB’s Multi-Year Strategic Plan. This plan improved early literacy, family engagement, childcare, and professional learning in equity, anti-Black racism, and anti-oppression. Before returning to the TDSB Colleen was the interim Director of Education for the Peel District School Board and was tasked with leading the implementation of the Directives from the Ministry of Education’s review of the Board.
Colleen received her Masters of Education as well as a Bachelor of Arts from York University and is also a proud alumnus of the TDSB’s Albert Campbell Collegiate Institute.

Dwayne Matthews - Digital Education Leader
​​As the founder of TomorrowNow Learning Labs, Dwayne Matthews converges and shares knowledge on the future of education, disruptive technology, and the evolution of work. His vast career path has afforded him an incredibly unique perspective on the future of digital education.
Formerly a TDSB school council chair, Matthews is
 presently an advisory board member for XPRIZE Connect, Future of Learning Lab, Hackergal, OVS, Allegori Online, and Universal PropTech. He is also the former president of NeuroEdX, a company that uses neurotechnology to prepare students for the exponential growth of the 4th industrial revolution and has brought together researchers and experts in cognitive human performance from industry, government, and academia, to bridge the gap between research and unmet real life applications. 
Matthews has addressed the UN on issues and opportunities around digital literacy, cognitive abilities and the 54 countries of Africa, in addition to addressing international leaders in education, the private sector, and governments including Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, on the future of education and its relationship to prosperity and national security.

Our free, curated workshops are designed to build and strengthen greater positive experiences for parents, guardians, and caregivers alike, as you navigate the primary, elementary, and secondary years at the TDSB, Canada's largest school board.
